there was a buffalo that was about to die soon but we were not allowed to tell it to the owner
#and the owner was a farmer whose livelihood depends on the animal#he was so sweet#when you meet with people from village who've travelled long enough for their animals just to get treated#you can see the hope in their wet eyes#this buffalo alone must've cost 1.5 lakh#and the economic gain from is milk is far beyond to sustain livelihood of farmers and their families#but they don't accept that their everything won't survive anymore#and we saw those poor animals#bitch with a tumor she kept whimpering#and a chihuahua who was so weak and helpless we couldn't even collect enough blood for cbc#ive been to clinic few times before this but none of the cases were this bad#also there was this rich lady with her toy breed dog who barely didn't eat for like two days and she got done all the scans and tests done#in moments like this it truly hits the condition of farmers in our country#fucking pathetic#i know its so much easier to open a clinic in metro city for dogs and cats where pets from rich families would come and youncan just do your#little oohs and awws#and no one wants to touch a cow or buffalo or goat because they don't fit in your cute aesthetic animals of what makes you a vet#but i keep thinking about the eyes of those owners as well as their livestock

Okay, so my GP won’t cover the cost of the blood test I need (to check I’m healthy enough for T), but they said that in the future they may take over my care, which would mean my T prescriptions would get covered by the NHS. Which would be great, because the cost would drop dramatically and it would be easier than handling it privately. Of course, this won’t actually become a real debate until whenever I get prescribed, but it’s reassuring that they didn’t immediately tell me ‘no’ for prescriptions.

these crazy bastards are using magnets to isolate bacteria from whole blood samples
#and it only takes an hour!#which is definitely way better than the usual 48ish hours it takes to get a pure culture#the paper was published yesterday. these scientists are using magnetic nanoparticles coated in a protein that binds to a bunch of pathogens#then used a magnet to separate the bacteria from the blood#then used a multiplex assay to ID the pathogen and microtiter plates for susceptibility testing#their average turnaround time was ~13 hours!!!!!#it usually takes about 60 hours from inoculation to ID/AST so that TAT difference is kind of crazy#i'm not sure how cost effective this is but i'm excited to see where it goes#okay that's all sorry

Today I worked on:
Buried: 527 words -- forced myself to finish the chapter.
Ghost on the Couch: 227 words -- I need to push myself to finish this too because I'm literally on the last chapter and I'm SO CLOSE.
Uploaded a new Tumblr exclusive fic.
I very suddenly have to move so I've been busy packing and also my cats just keep getting sick with this weird virus that just keeps coming back and ugh. But I really really do want to get back to writing regularly someday.
#today I worked on#10/22/2023#I think it's the herpesvirus but I'm not entirely sure#plus it responds to antibiotics which makes me think maybe it's not a virus?#or they just keep getting infections as a result of the virus#idk but I've been dealing with this for months now and I'm sick of it#and it costs 220 bucks for the blood panel that tests for herpesvirus#because I wanted to try famciclovir but the vet said she wouldn't prescribe it without knowing for sure it's viral#I guess I'll just keep throwing antibiotics at it and hope it eventually just stays gone one of these times#but at least they tested negative for FELV I was a little worried about that#I've had two cats test positive for FELV in the past two weeks and one had to be euthanized#there is so much disease out there for cats

Any headcanons for reboot Dante and medical trauma?
Side note: Considering Vergil got adopted by a rich family and presumably had regular doctor's visits and such, presumably Nephilim blood + DNA and such doesn't look any different than regular human DNA. Which... feels like it should be wrong, since Nephilim aren't human, so there's gotta be some differences there somewhere, right? Maybe it just looked normal because of whatever spell Sparda (and maybe Eva?) put on the twins?
I always figured based on that one line from Vergil about meningitis being a human sickness and thus, Dante can't catch it, that both of the twins just don't really get sick or have any medical issues. So due to that and Dante's slew of bad foster homes, that he probably just like...never went to the doctor.
I do however think that once he got in the Order, the medical division there probably ran some tests on him at Vergils behest. I'm sure the details they were given were slim and they'd probably run the same tests on Vergil before, but Vergil probably wanted something to compare to. Dante is cooperative, but talks and moves too much which is annoying when you're trying to draw blood (he talks with his hands and likes to touch things).
As for Vergil, I similarly don't think he ever got sick so only ever really went to the doctor for check ups. I guess I maybe based this on my own experiences but I never really got blood draws as a kid until they started testing me for anemia and thalassemia (anemia but worse if you have the major strain and Mediterranean). Which maybe was a result of my deathly fear of needles up until I started getting like frequent blood tests? But idk regardless it sort of led me to assume that Vergil, being the picture of health to his pediatrician, never got his blood drawn asdfghjk
The idea though that he's just got his former pediatrician out there wondering what the fuck was up with that kids blood is very funny to me. Like, I just figured all Sparda did was wipe the kids memories so any difference in their blood would be noticeable still for medical professionals. So this guy can see somethings up but is not equipped to figure out what and the kid seems fine so asdfghj let him be.
That said, and regardless of how aware he is that he is immune to human germs, I also headcanon Vergil to be a germaphobe and a hypochondriac (he has a vibe also as a fandom we all seemed to have taken in the fanon that he just never takes off the gloves and this all just rolled with it dfghjkl). He's probably always hated doctors offices and made a fuss about being there and did not trust the needles for his booster shots. Once he figured out he didn't need to go, he definitely stopped going asdfghjk. The idea of someone who is immune to all illness and disease who is incredibly afraid of it anyway is very silly and fun to me, love that about him.
#fab talks#fabtalks#ask#dmc reboot#if anyone was wondering don't worry i only probably have thalassemia minor so you will all be stuck with me for the time being asdfghjk#i never actually finished testing for if i have thalassemia minor or not? like i got to a point with blood tests where my doctor was like#'ok so we think you have a really good chance at having it but that'll take another test to confirm that your insurance doesn't cover'#and me ever the thoughtful child told my parents not to do it because it costs money and i was fine with this very vague answer about what#is actually a very like important disorder thats probably important for me to know about asdfghjk but don't worry its Fine#anywho that's the story of how i probably have thalassemia but never got my final blood test for my next medical story#i'll tell you all how my pediatrician didn't believe me when i told her repeatedly for years that i could not smell and i only ever formall#was diagnosed with anosmia at 22#a disability i knew i had and everyone else knew i had but no one ever bothered to believe me about until my late teens and early 20s asdfg

Last week I was like "I need to go to a doctor who can fix me" but after five days of pcp searching only for all of them to either not take my insurance or not take new patients or not have any availability for three to six months...I am going back to the clinic so that I can simply get a renewed prescription on the stuff that doesn't fix me but at least sort of makes it so I can survive a day at work.
#chit chat#'what's wrong with you' idk man the clinic doesn't even do blood tests we're just out here throwing spaghetti#'go to urgent care instead' the 10min visit costs $165 and any tests are charged on top of that#i pay $200 a month for insurance but it means nothing really#with my $200 insurance going to urgent care is $190 if i pay cash and don't go through insurance it's $165#if i go to the clinic where they don't diagnose you with anything but they give you stuff that kinda sorta works#it's $35#do you see my problem#i will continue to do this until i drop dead of whatever is wrong with me probably

5 Reasons Why You Should Opt For Regular Blood Tests
Blood tests are an essential component of maintaining good health. They are a key tool that allows healthcare professionals to monitor various aspects of your well-being. Whether you feel healthy or not, regular blood tests can provide valuable insights into your body's functioning. In this article, we'll explore the top 5 reasons why you should opt for regular blood tests.
Introduction
What Are Regular Blood Tests?
Regular blood tests from the best blood test clinic involve the analysis of a small sample of your blood to assess various health markers. These markers can include cholesterol levels, blood sugar, red and white blood cell counts, and more. The results can reveal vital information about your overall health and identify potential issues before they become serious problems.
Detection of Health Issues
Early Disease Detection
One of the most significant advantages of regular blood tests is their ability to detect health issues at an early stage. By monitoring specific markers, healthcare professionals can identify conditions such as diabetes, anemia, or high cholesterol before symptoms manifest. Early detection can lead to more effective treatments and better outcomes.
Preventive Health Measures
Proactive Health Management
Regular blood tests empower individuals to take control of their health. When you have access to your health data, you can make informed decisions about your lifestyle, diet, and exercise. These tests can help you and your healthcare team develop a proactive approach to managing your well-being, potentially preventing diseases from developing in the first place.
Monitoring Chronic Conditions
Diabetes, Heart Disease, and More
For those with chronic conditions like diabetes or heart disease, regular blood tests are invaluable. They allow for ongoing monitoring of disease progression and the effectiveness of treatments. Adjustments to medications or lifestyle changes can be made based on the results, helping patients lead healthier lives.
Customized Health Plans
Personalized Medical Care
Regular blood tests enable healthcare providers to create personalized health plans for their patients. Your unique data informs the creation of a tailored approach to managing your health, focusing on your specific needs and risks.
Monitoring Medication Effects
Ensuring Medication Efficacy
If you're taking medication for any condition, blood tests can determine how well the medication is working. Your doctor can make adjustments if necessary, ensuring that you receive the most effective treatment.
Prevention of Nutritional Deficiencies
Optimizing Nutrition
Blood tests can identify nutritional deficiencies, allowing you to make informed dietary choices. Ensuring your body gets the right nutrients can boost your overall health and well-being.
Health and Lifestyle Tracking
Tailoring Lifestyle Choices
Regular blood tests provide feedback on the impact of your lifestyle choices. If your results indicate issues like high cholesterol or blood pressure, you can make lifestyle changes to address them, potentially avoiding the need for medication.
Empowering Your Healthcare Team
Collaborative Healthcare
Regular blood tests facilitate better collaboration between patients and their healthcare providers. When you're actively involved in monitoring your health, you and your doctor can work together to achieve your health goals.
Benefits of Regular Blood Tests
Overall Health and Well-being
The benefits of regular blood tests extend to your overall health and well-being. By taking preventive measures and monitoring your health proactively, you can lead a healthier and more fulfilling life.
The Convenience of Regular Blood Tests
Easy Access to Health Data
Regular blood tests are convenient. They provide a snapshot of your health without the need for invasive procedures, allowing you to track your health status easily.
Potential Cost Savings
Avoiding Expensive Treatments
Preventive healthcare, informed by regular blood tests, can help you avoid costly medical treatments down the line. Identifying issues early can lead to more affordable and effective interventions.
Peace of Mind
Reducing Health Anxiety
Regular blood tests offer peace of mind. Knowing that you are actively monitoring your health can reduce anxiety and stress associated with the unknown.
The Role of Technology
Digital Health Tools
The use of digital health tools and apps makes accessing your blood test results even more convenient. You can review your data and share it with your healthcare team seamlessly.
Conclusion
In conclusion, opting for regular blood tests is a wise choice for anyone who values their health. It allows for early detection of health issues, empowers individuals to take control of their well-being, and fosters collaboration with healthcare providers. Regular blood tests provide numerous benefits, including cost savings and peace of mind, ultimately contributing to a healthier and more fulfilling life.

hhhrrrrrr why is medical transition so complicated in this country
#pk;m flip#i mean it's not like i expect it to be much better in other countries#but first we have to ask for a gp referral to an nhs gender identity clinic#which would take about a decade of waiting just for hormones#or we could go privately#which costs thousands#we could end up paying even more thousands for private blood tests because going privately does not make you eligible for nhs blood tests#and we could end up paying the full cost of hormones because the nhs partially subsidises nhs prescriptions#but you pay the full cost for private prescriptions#but there is a chance we could get our gp to arrange a shared care agreement with a private clinic#which would make us eligible for nhs blood tests and cheaper prescriptions whilst going privately#except it's very difficult to get a gp to actually agree to shared care#and this is just hormones#the surgery process is even more complicated#vent#ish
